This week our franchisee Laurel Brodie is celebrating her 7th “Business Birthday”!
Laurel launched Turtle Tots in the South of Glasgow, Ayrshire and Inverclyde in March 2013 with 27 customers and three lessons a week. By the end of her fourth year this had grown to teaching over 500 Turtle Tots every week across 11 venues with a team of nine teachers and administrator. Eight of Laurel’s teachers were also Turtle Tots parents before retraining and joining her – a great reflection of Laurel’s business and the quality of the Turtle Tots programme.
We asked Laurel about the challenges and highlights of the last seven years and she commented:
“With two young daughters juggling child care, teaching and administration is always hard work, and never goes away completely. However the highs never change.......seeing the progress of each of our swimmers in the pool and the absolute delight shared by parents and their children as they learn water safety and swimming skills whilst having fun.
Also, it’s important that I’m running a business where every member of the team is fully committed and loyal to the programme and its content. When the Swimming Teachers’ Association launched a new qualification for experienced teachers in 2017, we were all committed to gaining it as soon as it was introduced.”
