From the first dip of the toe, Turtle Tots is a magical journey between parent and child, developing water confidence, safety, and swimming skills through our unique and multi award-winning, child-led swimming programme.
Turtle Tots Lancashire & Cumbria is run by Fiona Vittery. Along with her team of world-class swimming teachers, they offer parent and child swimming lessons for babies, toddlers and preschool age children, they also offer independent swimming classes for older children from their lovely warm pool facilities in Barrow in Furness, Whitehaven, Penrith, Newby Bridge, Lancaster, Threshfield, and Barnoldswick.
Our supportive and child-led swimming lessons offer a wonderful bonding experience, packed with songs and games to ensure that you and your little one enjoy your time in the pool together and develop a life-long love of the water. Our programme is taught by our fully qualified and highly skilled teachers who are trained to the highest possible standards. They have an in-depth understanding of early years communication and are attuned to your child’s needs to ensure that every skill is taught at a pace that is right for them.

Fiona
Fiona fell in love with Turtle Tots from her first class with her daughter 8 years ago, she loved the ethos and approach of the lessons andher new career with swimming teaching started that year. Fiona has been a teacher with Turtle Tots for 6 years, and loves seeing a childs journey into swimming from their first class as a baby to when they are capable of swimming distances.

Becki
Becki started her Turtle Tots journey 4 years ago with her daughter. Becki is looking forward to developing skills, playing games, singing in class, and building relationships with you and your little one.

Michelle
Michelle’s passion for teaching was discovered by taking her two lovely children to our classes. Taking on the role of a Turtle Tots teacher came at a perfect time in her life for Michelle. Teaching brings Michelle real joy. Seeing water confidence, safety awareness and skills develop while sharing the splashy environment with you and your little ones is the best job in the world.

Emily
Emily is a keen swimmer and trained as a swimming teacher to be able to instill that love of the water into the next generation of swimmers.

Leanne
Leanne is passionate about children learning through play and enjoys watching the progressions is the children weekly in class.

Louise
Louise works as our Administrator and you will sometimes see her at the pool at the start of term welcoming everyone.
Louise is a keen swimmer herself and was certain that she wanted her children to be strong swimmers too.

I would highly recommend Turtle Tots. I have been taking my baby since she was 3 months old and not only is she so confident in water because of it but so am I! I am learning skills i didn’t even know i needed to know and also teaching my baby how to swim in the process. I will definitely continue with Turtle Tots for this reason, also I have met Hannah, Sarah and Fiona and they are all so lovely and helpful and realy really know their stuff!! My son has attended classes since he was 16 weeks old and he loves them! His confidence in water is amazing and he’s built quite the bond with Sarah who does his lessons. The only downfall for me is when we miss lessons we can never seem to book catch-ups at everlast and the swan isn’t convenient for us. The lessons however we will continue for the forseeable as Lenny loves them and it is a lovely session for me or dad (we take turns) to bond with him to 🙂

The classes and instructors are great. My child loves them and has grown in confidence.
A lot of lessons are cancelled at the last minute by text message and email but there have been times when people have arrived at the swimming pool to find the lesson cancelled. The replacement lessons are usually in the holidays which doesn’t suit everybody. Different instructors cover our classes frequently which can confuse my child.
The pool is warm and overall we enjoy the lessons and he is learning a skill for life. Just have to keep my phone by my side before every lesson incase it’s cancelled.Sarah M -

My Daughter loves the lessons and is certainly growing in water confidence. She has made some lovely friends too.
The loyne classes do tend to get cancelled a lot which I understand can’t be helped. However, the catch up classes always seem to be in half term when most parents like Myself have holidays or things planned so it’s not beneficial and we still end up losing out. A refund would be much preferred.
Also more photos and videos would be great. These are extremely precious times and to be able to share with family is vital.
We can’t thank Becki enough for being a very gentle and encouraging instructor.
She always makes lessons fun and works on encouragement when my daughter isn’t always keen on a certain activity eg jumping in.
I hope she remains at Turtle Tots for the duration of our time there.Clare W
