Turtle Tots East London & Essex - Our Pools
Impulse Belhus Park Leisure Centre
Belhus Park Leisure Centre is located in South Ockendon, West Thurrock, just a few minutes drive down Romford Road towards Aveley.
This is a fantastic pool in a great location. There is ample parking and great changing facilities. The pool is 31 degrees, so we do recommend a warming wetsuit for all babies which you can purchase from us and will be brought to your first class, this will keep your baby 1-2 degrees warmer then the water they are swimming in
Address: Impulse Belhus Park Leisure Centre, Impulse Belhus Park Leisure Centre, Park Lane, Aveley, RM15 4PXImpulse have beautifully refurbished male and female changing rooms. There is a designated baby changing table, if this is in use the safest alternative is to change your baby on the floor. We therefore recommend you bring your own travel changing mat or alternatively you can purchase one of our Turtle Tots changing mats in advance. Please do not leave your baby unattended at any time. When you go into the pool for your class, there are lockers available for you to leave your belongings, please note that you will need to bring your own padlock to secure your locker. Important - please wait in the changing room until your class starts, it can be quite distracting for the previous class, so we appreciate your understanding.
At Turtle Tots in order to prevent accidents in the pool all babies must wear a disposable swim nappy (Huggies Little Swimmers, Tesco Swim Nappy, etc.) and then on top of that a neoprene swim nappy (this can be purchased through us, we will bring it along to your first class). The neoprene construction provides a soft, stretchy, impermeable shell, while the close-fitting waist and leg hems offer a good seal around the tummy and legs. All of this adds up to no rubbing or chaffing of delicate skin, and peace of mind that any little accidents are contained. Please remember if your baby is under 6 months we recommend that they also wear a wetsuit which adds 1-2 degrees to the temperature of the water. A few weeks into the programme you may want to bring clear googles so that you can see your baby underwater (we will remind you the lesson before), these can also be purchases through us if this is easier for you. Then it is just your swimming costume, towels, a bag for wet clothes, etc.
