Kennington House

Kennington House is a private house with a lovely spacious pool which is heated to a cosy 32 - 34 degrees. Perfect for baby and toddler swimming. Classes held here on Thursdays.

Barnt Green is within easy reach of Alvechurch, Bromsgrove, Redditch, Northfield & Rubery. Please note that because of the depth of the pool that parents swimming with their little one need to be at least 5'3" tall.

The Pool: Kennington House is ideal for our baby and toddler classes as the pool temperature is kept between 32 and 34 degrees – perfect for keeping little ones warm and comfortable. The pool is 10m x 5m giving us plenty of space to splash about. The shallow end of the pool is 1.3m deep with a slight gradient to 1.4m at the deep end. Anyone under 5’2’’ may find it more comfortable to stay at the shallower end of the pool. There are gradual steps into the pool so please take care when carrying your little one in and hold onto the rail.

More helpful information

Parking: Kennington House is next to the small railway bridge and has dark brown railway sleepers around the driveway. Please park either in front of the house for classes on the hour and in front of the garages for classes half past the hour. The pool is a very short walk from the driveway past the house so please leave pushchairs and car seats in the car.

Changing rooms: The changing room has 2 separate cubicles, a shower room and a toilet. Space is limited so please bring bags onto the poolside after changing. No lockers are available, so please bring any valuables to poolside where they will be in your view. Please note there are no nappy disposal facilities in the changing room, so please be prepared to take your nappy home for disposal. As this pool is at a private house, please be respectful of the owners when passing by the house and do not let children play in the garden.

What to Wear and Bring

At Turtle Tots in order to prevent accidents in the pool we have a strict double nappy policy. All babies and young toddlers have to wear a disposable swim nappy (Huggies little swimmers or Pampers equivalent) OR a re-usable swimming nappy and then on top of that a neoprene swimming nappy (Happy Nappy). These swimming nappies have grippy bits around the legs and waist to prevent anything from ‘sneaking out’! Wearing these in the pool really does give you and us peace of mind that there will be no accidents. For taster sessions we will have over nappies to loan on the day.

Wetsuits/All in One suits/Baby Wraps are required for all babies under 4 months old, and recommended for babies under 12 months old. This will add a welcome 3°c to the body temperature. Please note – if you know your baby feels the cold, a full wetsuit is recommended rather than a wraps as it provides full body coverage.

Then all that is left is just you and your swimming costume and towels.

Turtle Tots Swim Shop

We are pleased to announce that we have a Turtle Tots shop which stocks plenty of branded swim nappies, wet suits, changing mats, bags and goodies etc.

On your first day any swimwear orders will be ready and waiting for you to collect at poolside.
