The Pool: Croft House pool is a lovely private pool, with a toasty pool temperature of between 31.5 The pool measures 5 x 10 meters, with a gradual depth of 1m – 2.5m, and we use only the shallow end.
For Health and Safety reasons we ask parents not to carry their child into the water down the vertical steps. So for babies, please could you lay them on the poolside (feet facing the water) and for the older babies and toddlers sitting them up on poolside. Parents are to sit close to their child and make a slide entrance into the pool, then pick up or help your little one into the water.
It is also very warm at poolside, with a temperature of 34 degrees, so friends and family spectators are very welcome, but please advise them to dress appropriately for the heat.
With regards to the poolside area and health and safety, please can you ensure your little ones do not run around the poolside area. We also operate a no shoes on poolside policy, so for non-swimmers we ask them to remove their shoes as you come onto poolside.
Parking: There is free parking on site and space for approximately 15 cars. Banbury Road is a busy road, and as customers will be arriving and leaving at the same time, please be vigilant and supervise children. Croft House owners request that you park in line and considerately to others to allow maximum space availability. Access to the pool is on the ramp to the right of the building, straight from the gravel car park, so pushchairs and car seats are best left in the car.
Changing rooms: Within the changing area there is 1 private shower and 1 toilet, a unisex communal changing area, 2 private changing rooms and disabled access. The changing area is small; so many parents choose to change babies at poolside where there is plenty of room, and it’s nice and warm. Please use the nappy bins provided within the changing area. Small lockers are available, requiring £1. On your first day any swimwear orders will be ready and waiting for you to collect at poolside.
What to Wear and Bring At Turtle Tots in order to prevent accidents in the pool we have a strict double nappy policy. All babies and young toddlers have to wear a disposable swim nappy (Huggies little swimmers or Pampers equivalent) OR a re-usable swimming nappy and then on top of that a neoprene swimming nappy (Happy Nappy). These swimming nappies have grippy bits around the legs and waist to prevent anything from ‘sneaking out’! Wearing these in the pool really does give you and us peace of mind that there will be no accidents. For taster sessions we will have over nappies to loan on the day. Wetsuits/All in One suit/Baby Wraps are required for all babies under 3 months old, and recommended for babies under 12 months old. This will add a welcome 2°c to the body temperature. Please note – if you know your baby feels the cold, a full wetsuit is recommended rather than a wraps as it provides full body coverage.
Then all that is left is just you and your swimming costume and towels. Turtle Tots Swim Shop We are pleased to announce that we have a Turtle Tots shop which stocks plenty of branded swim nappies, wet suits, changing mats, bags and goodies etc. On your first day any swimwear orders will be ready and waiting for you to collect at poolside.
Health and Safety: Please refer to your Welcome email for all Health & Safety Guidelines.
Refreshments: There is a cafe at Waitrose just a couple of minutes drive away if you fancy a chat with your other classmates!
