From the first dip of the toe, Turtle Tots is a magical journey between parent and child, developing water confidence, safety, and swimming skills through our unique and multi award-winning, child-led swimming programme.
Turtle Tots Cornwall is run by Vicky Hampshire. Along with her team of world-class swimming teachers, they offer swimming lessons for babies, toddler, 3 and 4 year olds from their lovely warm pool facilities in St Ives, Newquay, Penryn, Mawgan Porth, and Newlyn.
Our supportive and child-led swimming lessons offer a wonderful bonding experience, packed with songs and games to ensure that you and your little one enjoy your time in the pool together and develop a life-long love of the water. Our programme is taught by our fully qualified and highly skilled teachers who are trained to the highest possible standards. They have an in-depth understanding of early years communication and are attuned to your child’s needs to ensure that every skill is taught at a pace that is right for them.

Meet the Cornwall Team

Lara-Jane
Lara is an excellent baby and preschool swimming teacher, teaching in the Penzance and St Ives area. Lara teaches babies, toddler and big swimmers. She has two son’s who keep her busy when she is out of the pool!

Hannah
Hannah is an experienced teacher. She has experience of teaching adults as well as children in her other roles as a fitness instructor. She teaches babies, toddlers and big swimmers. Hannah has a son who has learnt to swim with Turtle Tots and has a little girl who also loves her baby swimming classes. Hannah is currently on Maternity leave with her second child.

Victoria
Vicky is an experienced swimming teacher. She taught in primary schools for 10 years before training as a swim teacher. Vicky has two children who have both learnt to swim with Turtle Tots and who love the water!

Lauren
Lauren has been a teacher with Turtle Tots for over a year. She works in the Newquay pools and has lots of experience working with children. Lauren has a daughter who loves her Turtle Tots classes and has been through the baby swimming programme and is now working the toddler classes.

Katie
Katie is the newest member of the Turtle Tots team. She has tons of experience of working with children and has an infectious energy which means her baby and toddler swimming classes are super fun! Katie works in the Falmouth and Truro areas. She has two teenage daughters.

We have used Turtle Tots for our 3 yr old who loves it, the pools are a great temprature for all ages, the teachers are warm welcoming, friendly and positive encouragements to the children. Our daughter loves it as they learn to swim through play and songs. You’re also able to book ‘catch up’ lessons if you have to miss one due to your child being unwell, holiday etc which is extremely helpful and we’ve had to use a few times so you don’t loose your money. Would highly recommend Turtle Tots!

We’ve had a wonderful experience with this baby and toddler swimming group. My eldest started when he was 18 months old, and my youngest joined at just 9 months. From the very beginning, the group has been incredibly patient, loving, and supportive with both of them.
They create such a safe and fun environment where babies and toddlers can learn to swim with confidence. Their gentle approach and calm presence make each session enjoyable, not just for the little ones but for parents too. The lessons are well-paced and engaging, helping the children feel comfortable and excited to be in the water.

Me and my daughter absolutely adore the team at turtle tots, it’s something we both look forward to every week. Living in Cornwall it is a necessity that we all learn to swim, not only do they make it fun but they also teach safety and knowledge for at the beach and in pools.

Me and my little one love Turtle Tots. It’s our favourite baby activity that we do. Vic is awesome, always so happy and engaging. Would 100% reccomend.

The classes are great for your little ones! We attend a class at Newquay hydro, and it’s really handy. The changing rooms are right next to the pool making it easy to shower and jump straight in and out.
Vicky is so good with the little ones, she remembers all their names and has a little chat with them each week making them feel comfortable. We look forward to swim class each week!Jones
