Our new term will be starting here from w/c 7th September 2020 – Classes currently held on Sundays.
The Pool: Bloxham School pool measures 25 x 8 meters and runs at approximately 29.4 degrees, with a depth of 0.75m in the shallow end, to 1.9m in the deep end. Wetsuits/All in One suits/Baby Wraps are required for all babies under 6 months old, and strongly recommended for babies under 12 months old. This will add a welcome 3°c to the body temperature. Please note – if you know your baby feels the cold, a full wetsuit is recommended rather than a warmer as it provides full body coverage.
For Health and Safety reasons we ask parents not to carry their child into the water down the vertical steps. So for babies, please could you lay them on the poolside (feet facing the water) and for the older babies and toddlers sitting them up on poolside. Parents are to sit close to their child and make a slide entrance into the pool, then pick up or help your little one into the water.
Parking: Free parking is available in the Bloxham School car park – there is no parking for swimmers in the pool car park, as this is for swimming staff and local residents only. To access the pool, please walk from the main school car park and head back out on to the High Street, turn left and walk down the street, just before the traffic lights/crossing there is a small gravel driveway on the left - head into there and you'll find the stairs up to the pool building on the left. Changing room access is through the doors on the right when you get to the top of the stairs.
It’s advised to leave pushchairs in the car as the pool entrance is up some steps. Car seats can be left at poolside as there’s plenty of space.
Changing rooms: Entrance to the changing rooms is from the outside balcony area. There are separate male and female changing rooms, which are communal, with communal showers and 1 toilet in each.
No lockers are available, so please bring any valuables to poolside where they will be in your view.
Access to the poolside is directly from each changing room.
Please note there are no nappy disposal facilities in the changing room, so please be prepared to take your nappy home for disposal.
What to Wear and Bring
At Turtle Tots in order to prevent accidents in the pool we have a strict double nappy policy. All babies and young toddlers have to wear a disposable swim nappy (Huggies little swimmers or Pampers equivalent) OR a re-usable swimming nappy and then on top of that a neoprene swimming nappy (Happy Nappy). These swimming nappies have grippy bits around the legs and waist to prevent anything from ‘sneaking out’! Wearing these in the pool really does give you and us peace of mind that there will be no accidents. For taster sessions we will have over nappies to loan on the day.
Wetsuits/All in One suits/Baby Wraps are required for all babies under 4 months old, and recommended for babies under 12 months old. This will add a welcome 3°c to the body temperature. Please note – if you know your baby feels the cold, a full wetsuit is recommended rather than a wrap as it provides full body coverage.
Then all that is left is just you and your swimming costume and towels.
Turtle Tots Swim Shop
We are pleased to announce that we have a Turtle Tots shop which stocks plenty of branded swim nappies, wet suits, changing mats, bags and goodies etc.
On your first day any swimwear orders will be ready and waiting for you to collect at poolside.
